cyclooxygenase (prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase, COX)

Introduction

Aspirin acetylates & irreversibly inactivates the enzyme. Other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents bind non-covalently to the enzyme & inhibit its activity. Ceramide may activate cyclooxygenase.
