Function
- terminates the action of glycine by its high affinity Na+-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals
- may be responsible for the termination of neurotransmission at strychnine-sensitive glycinergic synapses
Structure
Compartment
membrane
Expression
- expressed in medulla oblongata, & to a lesser extent in spinal cord & cerebellum
Pathology
- defects in SLC6A5 are a cause of startle disease
