Function
- probable adhesion protein
- mediates homophilic & heterophilic interactions via extracellular domain
- interacts with SCARF1
- interaction with SCARF1 stronger than the homophilic interaction with itself, is suppressed by the presence of SCARF1 ligand Ac-LDL
- in contrast to SCARF1, poorly mediates the binding & degradation of acetylated low density lipoprotein (Ac-LDL)
Structure
- homophilic & heterophilic interaction via its extracellular domain
- contains 7 EGF-like domains
Compartment
membrane
Expression
- predominantly expressed in endothelial cells
- expressed in heart, placenta, lung, kidney, spleen, small intestine & ovary
