- random hydrolysis of 1->4-linkages between N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosamine & D-glucuronate residues in hyaluronate
- Optimum pH is about 3.8
Structure
- belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 56 family
- contains 1 EGF-like domain
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=7
Expression
- expressed in the liver, kidney, heart > lung, placenta, skeletal muscle
- not expressed in adult brain
Pathology
- may have a role in promoting tumor progression
- isoform 1 is expressed only in bladder cancer & prostate cancer cells, G2/G3 bladder tumor tissues & lymph node showing tumor invasive tumors cells
- isoforms 3,4,5 & 6 are expressed in normal bladder & bladder tumor tissues
