Function
- modulates activity of cell cycle-specific kinases
- enhances CDC2 activity
- may contribute to regulation of the cell cycle
- may inhibit growth of glioma cells by promoting arrest of mitotic progression at the G2/M transition
- interacts with CDC2 & PLK1
Compartment
- cytoplasm, nucleus, centrosome
- cytoplasmic in unstimulated cells
- nuclear after activation by complement
- associated with the centrosome during prometaphase & metaphase
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- detected in brain, heart & liver (at protein level)
- highly expressed in liver, skeletal muscle, kidney & pancreas
- detected at lower levels in heart, brain & placenta
- detected in aorta endothelial cells
- up-regulated in aorta endothelial cells in response to complement activation
