Function
- signaling adapter molecule involved in p75NTR/NGFR signaling
- role in cell cycle progression & neuronal differentiation
- inhibits neuronal differentiation in response to nerve growth factor (NGF)
- link between the cell cycle & neurotrophic factor signaling
- upstream modulator of receptor signaling (putative)
- coordinates biological responses to external signals with internal cellular states (putative)
- interacts with neurotrophin receptor p75NTR/NGFR, OMP
- phosphorylation of Ser-102 protects it from the proteasome
Compartment
Expression
- expressed in central nervous system
- highly expressed in pituitary, cerebellum, temporal lobe
- expressed in lung, skeletal muscle, peripheral blood leukocytes, stomach, lymph node, trachea, bone marrow
Pathology
- highly expressed in acute myeloid leukemia
