• inhibits neuronal differentiation in response to nerve growth factor (NGF)
• link between the cell cycle & neurotrophic factor signaling
• upstream modulator of receptor signaling (putative)
• coordinates biological responses to external signals with internal cellular states (putative)
• interacts with neurotrophin receptor p75NTR/NGFR, OMP
• phosphorylation of Ser-102 protects it from the proteasome

• expressed in central nervous system
