Function
- secreted inhibitor of Wnt signaling
- DKKs play a role in vertebrate development, where they locally inhibit Wnt regulated processes such as anteroposterior axial patterning, limb development, somitogenesis & eye formation
- inhibits Wnt signaling by binding to the LRP5/LRP6 component of the Wnt receptor complex
- in adults, Dkks are implicated in bone formation
Compartment
Pathology
- Dkks are implicated in bone disease, cancer & Alzheimer disease
