Function
- phosphorylates proteins on Ser, Thr, & Tyr
- probably associated with cell proliferation
- essential for chromosome alignment by enhancing AURKB activity (via CDCA8 phosphorylation) at the centromere, & for the mitotic checkpoint
Inhibition:
- inhibited by the ATP-competitive kinase inhibitor, SP600125
Structure
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, Ser/Thr protein kinase family
- contains 1 protein kinase domain
Expression
- present in rapidly proliferating cell lines
