Function
- quinone reductase in connection with conjugation reactions of hydroquinones
- role in detoxification pathways
- role in biosynthetic processes including vitamin K-dependent gamma-carboxylation of glutamate residues in prothrombin (putative)
- uses dihydronicotinamide riboside (NRH) rather than NADH/NADPH as an electron donor
1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl)-1,4- dihydronicotinamide + quinone <--> 1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl)nicotinamide + a hydroquinone
Cofactor:
- binds 1 Zn+2 ion per subunit
- FAD
Kinetic parameters:
- KM=28 uM for NRH
- KM=11.6 uM for menadione
- KM=252 uM for NADH
Structure
- homodimer
- belongs to the NADH/NADPH dehydrogenase (quinone) family
