Introduction
Attempt to standardize agglutination procedure for detecting anti-erythrocyte IgG.
Indications
- anti-erythrocyte antibody (IgG)
Procedure
- gel card 5 x 7 cm
- 5 gel columns with dextran acrylamide gel
- 50 ul RBC + 25 mL serum place on top of gel
- 15 min incubation
- 10 min centrifugation
- anti IgG in serum
Interpretation
- agglutinated red cells get retained by the gel
- greater amounts of agglutination travel less far in the gel
- 4+ agglutinated red cells remain at the top of the gel
- unagglutinated red cells pellet at the bottom of the gel
