- transcriptional coactivator for CREB1
- does not appear to modulate CREB1 DNA-binding activity
- enhances the interaction of CREB1 with TAF4
- interacts through its N-terminal region with the bZIP domain of CREB1
- binds to CREB1 as a homotetramer

Expression
- expressed in a restricted set of tissues including fetal brain & liver, adult heart, skeletal muscle, liver, salivary gland.
Pathology
- chromosomal translocation t(11;19)(q21;p13) involving CRTC1 with MAML2 is found in mucoepidermoid carcinomas, benign Warthin tumors & clear cell hidradenomas
