Jump to search
Function
- required for timely anaphase onset during mitosis, when chromosomes undergo bipolar attachment on spindle microtubules leading to silencing of the spindle checkpoint
- role in maintenance of metaphase plate &/or spindle checkpoint silencing
- required for SKA2/FAM33A stability
- interacts directly & forms a complex with SKA2/FAM33A
Structure
belongs to the SKA1 family
Compartment
- spindle, kinetochore
- localizes to both mitotic spindle & kinetochore-associated proteins
- associates with kinetochores following microtubule attachment from prometaphase, through mid-anaphase & then vanishes in telophase
