Function
- component of the mitotic checkpoint, which prevents cells from prematurely exiting mitosis
- assembly of the dynein-dynactin complex onto kinetochores
- interacts with ZW10, required for stable association with kinetochore
Compartment
- cytoplasm, nucleus, kinetochore, spindle
- dynamic pattern of localization during the cell cycle
- at interphase, uniformly distributed throughout the cytoplasm & nucleus
- by prophase & until late stages of prometaphase, some is concentrated at kinetochores
- by metaphase, at kinetochores, along spindle fibers & most prominent at the poles
- by late anaphase until the end of telophase, no longer detectable on kinetochores or along spindle fibers, but still present at spindle poles
Expression
high expression in testis
