Function
- modulator of polycomb-mediated repression, which can be activated either by ERK, p38 & JNK
- substrate of CSBP
- in vitro, phosphorylates HSPB1, BMI1/PCGF4 & TCF3
- interacts with TCF3 & with polycomb proteins, such as PCH2 & BMI1/PCGF4
ATP + a protein <--> ADP + a phosphoprotein
Structure
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, Ser/Thr protein kinase family
- contains 1 protein kinase domain
Compartment
- nucleus, cytoplasm
- predominantly located in the nucleus
- when activated, translocates to the cytoplasm
Expression
- widely expressed
- higher expression observed in heart & skeletal muscle
- no expression in brain
