Function
- component of the nuclear lamina
- B-type lamins undergo a series of modifications, such as farnesylation & phosphorylation
- increased phosphorylation of the lamins occurs before envelope disintegration & probably plays a role in regulating lamin associations
- interacts with TMEM43 (putative)
Structure
- farnesylated on C-terminal CaaX motif
- belongs to the intermediate filament family
