- component of the nuclear lamina
- increased phosphorylation of lamins occurs before envelope disintegration & probably plays a role in regulating lamin associations
- interacts with lamin-associated polypeptides IA, IB & 2
Structure
- belongs to the intermediate filament family
- farnesylated on C-terminal CaaX motif

- nuclear membrane; lipid-anchor, nucleoplasmic side
Pathology
- defects in LMNB1 are the cause of autosomal dominant adult-onset leukodystrophy
