Indications
- benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH)
- localized prostate cancer
Advantages
- traditionally gold standard for treatment of BPH
Disadvantages
- hospitalizations of 1-3 days
- post-operative catherization for one or more days
- risk of prolonged bleeding
- urinary incontinence
- sexual dysfunction
