Etiology
- appendicitis (right-sided)
- iliopsoas hematoma
Clinical significance
- right lower quadrant pain on flexion of the right hip against resistance or hyperextension of the right hip, elicited in the classic presentation of appendicitis
- the former maneuver contracts & the latter maneuver stretches the psoas muscle
Procedure
- pain ellicited by extension of the hip
- painful limitation of hip movement
