Introduction
Abnormal movements resulting from cerebellar disease or posterior column dysfunction. Specific tests include:
- finger to nose
- with cerebellar disease, an action tremor is present
- with eyes closed, tests proprioception (posterior columns)
- heel to shin
- cerebellar disease
- heal to knee is jerky, the knee is frequently overshot
- the slide down the shin is accompanied by an action tremor
- posterior column disease
- heal may have difficulty finding shin
- the slide down the shin weaves from side to side & may roll of the shin
- cerebellar disease
