Introduction
Inflammation of the testes.
Etiology
- 20% of men with mumps
- orchitis without epididymitis suggests mumps[4]
- extension of bacterial infection from epidydymitis[4]
Clinical manifestations
- diffuse testicular tenderness
- parotitis preceding testicular pain by 1-2 weeks
Radiology
- scrotal ultrasound
- normal or increased blood flow to the testes
Management
- bed rest
- scrotal elevation
- analgesics
