Etiology

• damage to the corticospinal tracts in the midbrain or caudal diencephalon
• bilateral lesions of the basal forebrain
• severe metabolic encephalopathy

Clinical manifestations

• extension of the lower extremities, elbows & wrists
• shoulder adduction
• arm pronation
