acute renal cortical necrosis

Etiology

• pregnancy

Pathology

• fibrin thrombi in glomerular capillaries
• glomerular necrosis

Clinical manifestations

• anuria & hematuria or the presence of oliguria for > 1 week suggest acute cortical necrosis

Laboratory

• renal biopsy (rarely necessary)

Management

• supportive
• prognosis poor
