Introduction
No urine output. Clinically defined as < 50-75 mL/day in adults; no urine output in children. It is rare it adults & generally indicates post-renal obstruction. (see oliguria)
Differential diagnosis
- complete urinary obstruction
- rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis
- renal cortical necrosis
- bilateral renal artery occlusion
- acute tubular necrosis (ATN) is oliguric rather than anuric
