Clinical significance
- tests attentional interference & executive function
- poor performance is an independent risk factor for subsequent (first ever) stroke[2]
- poor prestroke performance predicts poststroke mortality[3]
- poor performance may be a manifestation of unrecognized cerebrovascular disease
Procedure
- a timed test that measures the time to draw lines between scattered circles.
- connect numbers & letters in alternating sequence, i.e., 1 to A, then 2 to B, then 3 to C, etc. (see cartoon, fat client only)
