Introduction

Immediate recall, registration or short-term memory.

Stimuli have been recognized & registered. Decay occurs rapidly, sometimes within 1-2 seconds. Rehearsal may preserve items in short-term memory.

* Health care workers often use the term 'short-term' memory incorrectly to designate secondary or recent memory.
