Management
- rigid dressing of plaster or fiberglass
- not well tolerated in the elderly
- shrinker socks or ACE wraps
- prosthesis:
- conventional socket prosthesis
- Osseoanchored Prostheses (OPRA) uses fixtures & screws implanted into the femur[2] for patient who cannot use conventional socket prosthesis
- 87% increase in energy consumption with ambulation over baseline
