Introduction

Examples of procedural memory include:

• knowing how to swim
• knowing how to solve a puzzle faster the 2nd time you are exposed to it
• knowing how to play the guitar

Pathology

• impaired by lesions in the basal ganglia or cerebellum
• impaired in Parkinson's disease & in Huntington's disease

Physiology

• procedural memories may be stored in the basal ganglia
