sinus venosus

Introduction
A cavity at the caudal end of the embryonic cardiac tube upon which veins of the embryonic & extraembryonic circulation converge. In the adult it forms the sinus of the vena cava in the right atrium.
Pathology
- persistent sinus venosus associated with atrial septal defect
