Procedure
Laparocopic procedure.
An upper gastric pouch is formed by a verticle staple line with banding. The stomach is shaped such that the gastric inlet & gastric oulet are connected to the upper gastric pouch (see image).
74% effective at 2 years in maintaining > 50% of excess weight loss (vs 35% for gastric banding).
Complications
rare More effective than gastric banding with fewer complications[2].
