Introduction
Randomized trial.
110 outpatients with rheumatoid arthritis of < 5 years duration
intensive treatment (increasing dose of DMARDs + joint injections) vs routine therapy (DMARDs)
Outcomes assessed at 19 months
Results:
- intensive treatment resulted in decreased mean disease activity score.
- no difference in cost
