The most common disorders of the kidney in the elderly:[1]
Etiology
- chronic renal failure
- acute renal failure
- nephrotic syndrome
- diabetic nephropathy#
- membranous nephropathy* (adults)
- minimal change disease (children, adults)
- amyloidosis
- glomerulonephritis
- renal artery stenosis due to atherosclerosis
- arterial thrombosis may complicate stenosis
- renal artery emboli
* most common cause of idiopathic nephrotic syndrome in elderly[2]
# nephrotic syndrome is a late manifestation[2]
