Clinical manifestations
- slow progressive
- distal paresthesias
- sensory ataxia, pseudoathetosis
- areflexia
- strength is normal
- marked loss of propioception
- loss of kinesthetic sensation distal to proximal
- paresthesias common
- uncomfortable pulling or stretching sensation
- often confined to bed or wheel chair
Laboratory
- serum IgM monoclonal gammopathy common
- polyclonal gammopathy common
Management
- response to immunosuppressants is poor
