Epidemiology

• men with obesity

Pathology

• increase in breast adipose tissue, no proliferation of glandular tissue

Clinical manifestations

• the nipple is typically still flat but soft
• nondescript subcutaneous fat tissue is present in the breast area

Differential diagnosis

• gynecomastia
  • distorts the normally flat contour of the male nipple
  • protrusion of the nipple due to the mass of glandular tissue beneath it
