Classification
- most common type is squamous cell carcinoma, lung
- other hisopathologies exist
Radiology
- chest X-ray of right upper lobe endobronchial carcinoma
- homogeneous, sharply demarcated opacification in the right upper chest on frontal radiograph, accompanied by subtle elevation of the right hemidiaphragm
- lateral chest film shows opacification at the upper lung field
- findings consistent with right upper lobe atelectasis caused by obstruction of a bronchus by tumor
Staging
- staged by TNM system according to tumor size, depth, & presence of nodal or distant metastases
