Etiology
* ocular bobbing on primary gaze, but not horizontal gaze[3]
Pathology
- not necessarily associated with pontine pathology
Clinical manifestations
- abrupt, spontaneous downward jerks of the eyes with slow return to midposition
- occurs in association with paralysis of spontaneous & reflex horizontal eye movements
