Introduction

A wristwatch-like device that displays glucose readings every 20 minutes.

Principle

• uses a low electrical current to extract glucose from interstitial fluid in the skin

Methods

Warm-up time: 3 hours

Finger-stick blood glucose (glucometer) needed to calibrate GlucoWatch before each use.

Blood glucose should be checked before changing therapy

Notes

Prescription Only as of May 2002. $595 + $70 for 16 sensors. Each sensor good for 12 hours.
