Introduction
Lesions removed by base excision repair.
DNA base lesions are excised by DNA glycosylases.
Uracil & hypoxanthine are deamination products formed by hydrolysis
3-methyladenine, 7-methylguanine & 2-methylcytosine are products of methylation caused by methylating agents such as the endogenous S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) or the chemotherapeutic agent N-methyl-N- nitrosourea.
The remainder are lesions caused by active oxygen species.
