Function
- formed by oxidation of adrenaline
- may be produced normally as an intermediate in the formation of neuromelanin

- in the 1950s a hypothesis that adrenochrome may play a role in schizophrenia
- In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association reported methodological flaws in work associating adrenochrome with schizophrenia
- no reliable reports of adrenochome identified in patients with schizophrenia

- adrenochrome is the subject of a QAnon conspiracy theory that alledges politicians & Hollywood elites engage in producing fear in children during Satanic rituals to harvest epinephrine from the frightened children's blood for use in producing adrenochrome* as an elixer to remain young[2]
