Epidemiology
- in response to public concern about forever chemical (PFAS) contamination, US companies voluntarily began phasing out certain PFAS, including PFOA & PFOS, in the early 2000s
- they often replaced PFOA with hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid & its NH4+ salt, referred to as GenX chemicals
Adverse effects
- human health effects of GenX chemicals are yet to be determined
