Indications
- positive HIV 1+2 Ab & HIV1 p24 Ag in serum (screening test)
Clinical significance
- distinguishes HIV1 from HIV2 or suggests false positive screening test
- positive HIV 1+2 Ab & HIV1 p24 Ag in serum
- if negative differentiation assay, suggests HIV1 p24 Ag or false positive screening test for HIV1[1]
- a negative HIV1 nucleic acid amplification test confirms a false positive screening test for HIV1
- a positive HIV nucleic acid amplification test confirms acute HIV1 infection*
- positive HIV 1+2 Ab & HIV1 p24 Ag in serum
* MKSAP20[1] does not seem to acknowlege the difference between HIV1 nucleic acid amplification & HIV nucleic acid amplification testing whereas OpenEvidence does
