Flex, ADduct, & Internally Rotate (FADIR) test

Indications

• hip pain

Procedure

• Flex, ADduct, & Internally Rotate hip
  • either hip is flexed, adducted & internally rotated with downward pressure to the knee reproducing the pain

Interpretation

• restricted range of motion, mainly limitation of adduction & internal rotation are common with intra-articular hip disease
• pain in the buttocks & reduced active flexion also positive FADIR signs
