Introduction

Indications

Procedure

  • canceling large events
  • school closures
  • closure of nonessential stores
  • CDC recommends adults maintain a distance of 6 feet apart[1]
  • CDC recommends students maintain a distance of 3 feet apart[9]
  • Lancet study finds transmission of SARS CoV-2 lower with physical distancing of 1 meter (3.3 feet)[3]

Notes

  • a decline in COVID-19 cases may become detectable 2 weeks after implementation[2]
    • benefit not seen until at least 9-12 days after implementation[4]
  • earlier implementation of social distancing reduces transmissionm of COVID-19[8]
  • certain droplets can travel up to 6-8 meters[7]
  • CDC announces that fully vaccinated persons no longer need to wear face masks or socially distance regardless of the location (indoors or outdoors) or size of the gathering[10]
