Etiology
- may be seen in patients with severe aortic regurgitation
Pathology
- manifestation of wide pulse pressure & large stroke volume in the iridial vessels, which causes systolic constriction & diastolic dilation of the pupils
Clinical manifestations
- dilation & constriction of the pupils, synchronized with patient's heartbeat
- murmur of aortic regurgitation is crescendo-decrescendo

Radiology
- transthoracic echocardiography reveals severe aortic regurgitation
- dilatation of the ascending aorta may also be observed
