- allows for rapid, direct, and documented communication of recommendations from a consultant to the health care provider[2][3]
- eConsult may shift some of the burden of specialty work to the referring primary care physician[1]
- useful for communication with providers who have patients in rural communities far from in-person office access & without internet access[2]
