Indications

• thinning of thick meconium in amniotic fluid
• reduce meconium aspiration syndrome*
• oligohydramnios to prevent umbilical cord compression*

* may or may not be of benefit

Procedure

• isotonic fluid is instilled into the amniotic cavity
