Mechanism of action

• photobiomodulation delivers specific wavelengths of light to the retina thereby increasing energy production by mitochondria in retinal cells, decreasing inflammation, & increasing nutrients & oxygen for cells
• prevents oxidative stress from damaging retinal pigment epithelial cells
• improves retinal cell survival in dry AMD
• may slow disease or stop it from reaching later stage
• the wavelength of light used in photobiomodulation stimulates an enzyme in retina key to healthy retinal function & vision.
