Etiology
- surgery
- parotidectomy most common[2]
- allergy to vinegar, vinegar-containing products, & spicy food[3]
Epidemiology
- rare
Pathology
- nerve injury to the auriculotemporal nerve
- injury to the parotid gland
Clinical manifestations
- focal hyperhidrosis adjacent to ear (gustatory hyperhidrosis)*
- sweating in the region of the ear after eating a lemon wedge may be diagnostic
- generally develops within 1 year of surgery

- symptomatic treatment
