• chest trauma
• spontaneous pneumothorax

Pathology

• intrapulmonary right-left pulmonary shunt
• non-ventilated alveoli
• hypoxemia difficult to correct with supplemental oxygen

• dyspnea

• arterial blood gas vs pulse oximetry: hypoxemia

Radiology

• chest X ray
  • triangular opacity above the diaphragm with lower lobe collapse
