Etiology
- generally a triggering event such as infection or surgery[1]
Clinical manifestations
- subacute severe shoulder pain
- muscle weakness, muscle atrophy with resolution of shoulder pain
- winged scapula[1]
- symptoms peak in 2 weeks[1]
Management
- presumably supportive
- spontaneous recovery may take up to 2 years[1]
