Introduction
separation of the right & left rectus muscles
Epidemiology
- overweight, middle-aged women
- small fit women who have carried a large fetus or twins to term
Complications
- impaired ability to lift & care for children
Management
- weight loss when appropriate
- consider surgery if weight loss achieved & sustained
- abdominal & pelvic floor muscle training during pregnancy have a little effect[2]
- surgery, generally in association with a plastic surgeon
